When do I need to Bridge to Polygon? 🤔
Tellie mints Collections contracts and NFTs on Polygon. Polygon is a blockchain network that runs alongside the Ethereum blockchain. It allows for speedy transactions and low fees.
MATIC is Polygon's native cryptocurrency.
You need to be holding MATIC in order to list a Tellie NFT on OpenSea, or in order to purchase an NFT listed for sale on Tellie.
If you are currently holding ETH, you can "bridge" some of your ETH to the Polygon network in order to acquire MATIC. Bridging a token takes it from one blockchain to another.
How to use the Polygon Bridge:
1) You want to make sure you have a compatible wallet within Ethereum’s and Polygon’s network, such as Coinbase Wallet and Metamask. If you don't have a wallet check out our post here.
2) From your desktop computer browser window, go to the official Polygon Bridge website 🌐: https://wallet.polygon.technology/bridge/
3) ✅ Connect your wallet 🦊
4) You will then be prompted with a message to ‘sign in’. Ensure that the information and correct wallet is selected before proceeding.
5) Once signed in, the next step is to click on the ‘Bridge’ tab found on the left hand side. You will then deposit the token you want to transfer from Ethereum's network to Polygon’s. Once you have successfully input the amount you want to transfer, go ahead and proceed with the transfer button. 🙌
6) ⚠️ Once you begin the transfer, you will be prompted with a message letting you know the projected amount of time required to transfer from blockchain to blockchain. Keep in mind that the amount of time is solely dependent on blockchain congestion. This process can take minutes to hours to days.⏱️
7) Once you continue the process you will then be able to see the estimated Gas fee that it will cost. 💵
8) Once you click on confirm, you can then find the transaction details on the left hand side. This is where you can monitor the TXID to see when the smart contract is completed and bridged. ✅
9) Once the Bridge is completed you will see the Matic in your wallet on Polygon Network.🙌
