How to connect Google Analytics with Tellie.
Google Analytics is a free tool for measuring things like page views, traffic sources (ie. how people are getting to your various pages or even what they searched to find you), time on site, and what people are doing once they are there. Google Analytics is a great tool for learning what your site is doing well, and what you could be doing better. It is also a great way to find out what your audience is most interested in!
Getting started is easy. We’ve written out step-by-step instructions for you below.
1. Go here and click 'Start measuring'
2. Name your Account and select your options you’d like.
You can use a single Google Analytics Account to track multiple websites or even mobile apps; the settings you apply here can apply to many properties. Here you should use either your name, or the name of your business entity / band name / film studio / etc.
For Data Sharing, choose as many or few as you like, it will not impact your experience.
3. Ensure Property name is correct.
A Property refers to any and all of your web data – your Tellie site, Youtube, Shopify, Facebook page, etc. Once you set your property up, you will be asked to set-up a “stream” for each of your channels, like your Tellie Site.
Here, as with above, feel free to just use your name, your band name, design studio etc.
Note: If you are a record label, film production house, or someone who creates websites for each project you release, you might name the Property to match the name of the film you are releasing, or the band you are managing for example. This way you can use one Google Analytics account to view data for each film, band, etc.
4. Select your business/team size. After you will click on which options you intend to use Google Analytics for.
5. Read and accept the Terms of Service.
6. Now we are going to want to generate a Google Analytics key for your Tellie site. Select the ‘web’ option.
7. You will then enter your Tellie url as well as name the ‘stream name’.
Stream name refers to the source of the data that you will be tracking – In this case, you should go with 'My Tellie Site' or 'Band Name’s Tellie Site' since the data will be coming from your Tellie.
8. You will then get a Measurement ID - It should be easy to find, look for a string of digits starting with a G: G-XXXXXXX. You will need to copy this number and so that you can paste it into your Tellie settings.
9. Once you copy your Measurement ID, you will then go to your Tellie settings in your dashboard and paste the Measurement ID under Google Analytics and you should be all set!
Please keep in mind that it can take 48 hours to populate any data on Google Analytics. If a fews days have passed and you aren’t seeing any data, feel free to contact our support team so we can help.
